Daugherty, Harry

Daugherty, Harry (Micajah)

(1860–1941) lawyer, politician; born in Washington Court House, Ohio. As campaign manager whose prediction originated the term "smoke-filled-room," and as attorney general (1921–24) for President Harding, he figured in several scandals including the Teapot Dome but managed to avoid criminal indictment.
