The Davy Crockett National Forest is one of four national forests in Texas and includes several streams within and around its boundaries.

The values of the IBI, Shannon diversity index, richness and evenness are useful estimators of water quality levels in the ten study streams of the Davy Crockett National Forest. The study streams appear to be unimpacted, with the exception of Lynch Creek, Hackberry Creek, and to a lesser extent, Sandy Creek.
