DeVos, Richard

DeVos, Richard (Marvin)

(1926–  ) marketing executive; born in Grand Rapids, Mich. As a 10-year veteran of direct selling, he cofounded with Jay Van Andel the Michigan-based Amway Corporation (1959). A manufacturer and direct sales distributor of household products, Amway became a billion-dollar international corporation while attracting controversy for its pyramid sales structure and cultist motivational techniques.
