Location:In Garrett County, 10 miles northeast of Oakland on the east side of Deep Creek Lake and 2 miles east of Thayerville off US 219.
Facilities:112 improved campsites (26 with electric hookups; @di), 2 mini-camper cabins, a Yurt, and an Adirondck-style shelter, hot showers, restrooms (é), picnic areas and shelters, playgrounds, hiking trails, snowmobile trails, fishing piers (é), boat launch, boat rentals, educational/interpretive center.
Activities:Camping, boating, flatwater canoeing, freshwater fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Park features 1 mile of shoreline on the state's largest manmade lake, which has a 6-square-mile surface. The park's Discovery Center showcases the natural resources of western Maryland and the cultural and historical heritage that changed a former logging and coal-mining region into a popular vacation destination.
