The peaks corresponding to a low spin type (peaks at 417, 535, and 569 nm) were lowered with concomitant increase in peaks of a high spin type (peaks at 394 and 645 nm) on addition of
deoxycorticosterone, a substrate for 11[beta]-hydroxylase reaction.
The classic type, presents early in life as salt losing type or simple virilizing type, depending on presence of both cortisol and 11
deoxycorticosterone (DOC) deficiency or sole deficiency of cortisol.
In another study quercetin (10 mg/kg) shows both antihypertensive and antioxidant properties in the
deoxycorticosterone acetate-salt-hypertensive rats model, where verapamil (20 mg/kg/day) exhibits only antihypertensive effects.
This cortisol antiserum had the following cross reactivities: 11-deoxycortisol 25%, cortisone 8.5%, corticosterone 4.5%, 17[Alpha]-hydroxyprogesterone,
deoxycorticosterone 1.4%, and progesterone 0.06%.

deoxycorticosterone acetate-salt," Hypertension, vol.
More substrates include hormone precursors (androstenedione,
deoxycorticosterone) and "metabolites" (epi-testosterone).
Cosyntropin (ACTH) stimulation testing was considered superfluous in this setting, as the baseline serum 11-deoxycortisol concentration was already 2.5x the upper limit of the reference range and other adrenal steroid metabolites (17OH-progesterone, 17-OH-pregnenolone, and
deoxycorticosterone) were all within normal limits and because (unlike 17-OH-progesterone) there is no quantitatively important ovarian source for 11-deoxycortisol.
To address this hypothesis, the present study was aimed to evaluate the effects of the new combination of 4-OH-Ile and s-AML against hypertension induced by
deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA) in rats, compare its effects with those of therapeutic h-AML and to explore the possible mechanisms involved.
