On the southern border of ND, southwest of Fargo; organized Mar 5, 1881 (prior to statehood) from La Moure County. Name Origin: For either Alfred M. Dickey (1846-1901), a homesteader in the county and lt. governor of ND (1889-90), or for George H. Dickey (1858-1923), an attorney and ND legislator
