Doughty, Thomas

Doughty, Thomas

(1793–1856) painter; born in Philadelphia. Based in Philadelphia, he was a leather merchant until 1820, painted landscapes, and was associated with the Hudson River School. He is remembered for his treatment of light in paintings such as In Nature's Wonderland (1836).
