Location:On KY 459, 5 miles southwest of Barbourville.
Facilities:Historic site, gift shop, picnic shelters, playground, basketball court, 9-hole miniature golf course, concession stand (seasonal).
Activities:Site tours, picnicking, miniature golf.
Special Features:Park was named for Dr Thomas Walker, a physician and surveyor who led the first expedition through Cumberland Gap in 1750. He built the first cabin in Kentucky near the river (a replica of that cabin is at the site), which he gave the name Cumberland. Although Daniel Boone is remembered as Kentucky's most famous pioneer, Dr Walker actually arrived here more than 17 years earlier than Boone.
