Dulany, Daniel

Dulany, Daniel

(1722–97) lawyer, public official; born in Annapolis, Md. Educated in England at Eton and Cambridge, he returned to Maryland in 1747 and established a thriving law practice. He served several terms in the Maryland assembly. He published a tract opposing the Stamp Act (1765), but remained loyal to Britain after 1776. U.S. officials confiscated his property in 1781, and he spent the remainder of his life in obscurity.
