Duncanson, Robert

Duncanson, Robert (Scott)

(?1817/22–72) painter; born in Seneca County, N.Y. He was based in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is considered the first internationally acclaimed African-American artist. His luminous landscape, Blue Hole, Flood Waters, Little Miami River (1851), reveals his talent.
