Dzhetysai

 

a city (until 1969, a settlement), administrative center of the Dzhetysai Raion, Chimkent Oblast, Kazakh SSR. Dzhetysai is located 2 km from the Dzhetysai railway station on the Syrdar’inskaia-Dzhizak line and has a population of 16,000 (1970). It has cotton-processing, asphalt, and building-materials factories, a brewery, a pedagogical school, a cultural and educational technicum, and a musical theater.
