EFTPOS

(Electronic Funds Transfer at Point Of Sale) First launched in the U.S. in the 1980s, EFTPOS is the credit and debit card system. Mobile EFTPOS emerged in the mid-1990s starting in Singapore, which uses the cellular system for transmitting the transaction. See EFT.

In order to issue branded cards banks must enter an agreement with the main international card issuers and payments organizations for branding purposes and for merchant payments EFTPOS units, and reciprocal acceptance of different branded cards, nationally and internationally.
