Colonies showing metallic shine on
EMB agar were suspected for E.
EMB agar is used specifically for the growth of coliforms that are disease causing agents in fish and also in humans.

The isolates were identified based on colony characteristics and biochemical profile including oxidase, indole production, methyl red, VP, citrate utilization, glucose fermentation, lactose fermentation, Na requirement, tripple sugar iron, motility tests and growth on
EMB agar.
Samples were cultured on blood agar &
EMB agar. Colony counts of more than 104 cfu/mL were considered positive.
Para a confirmacao de coliformes fecais todos os tubos que apresentaram turvacao e producao de gas foram repicados para placas contendo
EMB Agar (Teague) HIMEDIA[R] e incubadas a 45 [degrees]C durante 24h.
Selected colonies were identified by gram staining [8].Growth patterns were observed using
EMB agar and KKA agar.
In order to test this, goose fecal, influent, effluent, and river water samples were collected and isolated by being streaked onto
EMB agar. The E.
The loopful of culture, from the positive presumptive tube was streaked on sterilized
EMB agar plate.
Appropriate dilutions were prepared and 0.1 mL of each dilution was spread plated on
EMB agar. The detection limit was determined to be 1 log CFU/[cm.sup.2] (i.e., 10 CFU/[cm.sup.2]) to avoid the introduction of error into the results.
