JCSE's transition to
EoIP technology, led by the operational and technical vision of Colonel Thomas Hopkins, USA, the JCSE commander from 2004 to 2007, enabled the element to radically condense its communications packages into smaller and more deployable entities that were increasingly cost efficient and resulted in a more effective and flexible network for joint forces.
Because the COE and
EoIP are aligned with commercial standards, they can also enable the Army to "commoditize" many portions of the network and possibly lower costs.
EOIP equipment presents a few challenges to brigades and battalions.
