St Nicholas' Church on Windy Harbor Road,Whistonwas built in the 1800s and is noted for its Early English style of design.
The church, which was 94ft 8in long and 41ft wide, was built to designs by the esteemed Durhamborn architect Anthony Salvin, in the Early English style. There was seating for up to 1,200 people.
The chapel was a very simple affair, designed in the Early English style and built to hold just over 200 worshippers.
