An analytical technique in which the characteristics or the amount of volatile products released by a substance and its reaction products are determined as a function of temperature while the sample is subjected to a series of controlled temperature changes. Abbreviated EGA.

The Cahn TGA is said to be ideal for evolved gas analysis (EGA), due to integrated design (TG-IR, TG-MS, TG-GC/MS).
