Ewry, Ray

Ewry, (Raymond Clarence) Ray

(1873–1937) track and field athlete; born in Lafayette, Ind. Though afflicted with polio as a child, he won more Olympic gold medals (10) than any athlete in history. At the 1900, 1904, 1906, and 1908 Games, he won the standing broad jump and the high jump. He won the standing long jump at the 1900 and 1904 Games.
