Expansion anchor

Bolt that is inserted into a hole drilled into masonry or other material, with a device on the end that expands, prohibiting the bolt from being withdrawn.

An anchoring device having an expandable socket that swells as a bolt is tightened into it; used in masonry walls for attaching timber, etc.
