Location:In the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, off Rt. 57.
Facilities:51 campsites (all with electric and water), 4 backcountry campsites, 6 group campsites, 24 cabins (15 @di), 5-bedroom lodge (é), picnic area, picnic shelters (é), multi-use trails (9 miles), swimming beach, bathhouse, fishing pier, boat launch, boat rentals, snack bar, visitor center.
Activities:Camping, boating (electric motors only), fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting, interpretive programs (seasonal).
Special Features:The largest of the six original Virginia state parks, this park is home to mysterious "fairy stones." Fairy stones are brown staurolite, a combination of silica, iron, and aluminum, which form into the shape of a cross.
