Kozhevnikov, Fedor Ivanovich

 

Born June 2 (15), 1903, in Smolensk. Soviet jurist, specialist in international law, Honored Worker of Science of the RSFSR (1964), doctor of jurisprudence (1945). Became a member of the CPSU in 1926.

Kozhevnikov has engaged in scholarly and pedagogical work since 1927. He worked at the Moscow Juridical Institute and was director of the All-Union Correspondence Juridical Institute (1943–44) and a professor at Moscow State University (1930–60). In 1960 he became a professor at Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and since 1969 he has been dean of its international law faculty. In addition, Kozhevnikov was a member of the UN International Law Commission in 1952–53 and the UN International Court of Justice from 1953 to 1961 and has been a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague since 1966. He has been awarded three orders and several medals.
