An incombustible, horizontal or vertical barrier, as of brick across a hollow wall or across an open room, to stop the spread of fire. Also known as draught stop.

Obstructions across air passages in buildings which prevent the spread of hot gases and flames, such as the solid blocking between studs and floor and ceiling joists.
