flow visualization

[¦flō vizh·ə·lə′zā·shən]
(engineering)
Method of making visible the disturbances that occur in fluid flow, using the fact that light passing through a flow field of varying density exhibits refraction and a relative phase shift among different rays.

This is where engineering technologies such as flow visualization come into play.
The CPC is a coil-type tubular reactor, and one way to experimentally characterize the hydrodynamics inside it is through residence time distribution (RTD) analysis [13-16] or by flow visualization technique [17-20].
For scientific presentations of this model, Chuck displayed a computer-generated film of the model output and thus was one of the very first exhibitors of computer-generated animation and flow visualization. It is for general circulation modeling that the AMS Meisinger Award was jointly given to Chuck, Joe Smagorinsky of the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory, and Yale Mintz and Akio Arakawa of UCLA.

Previously, the Arterys Software received FDA clearance for its 4D Flow visualization feature.
After an introduction to basic concepts of information theory, chapters then describe methods in information theory, measurements in visualization, and techniques and applications in viewpoint metrics, volume visualization, and flow visualization. The final chapter applies applying information theory to information visualization, exploring topics such as parallel coordinates, graphs, and multivariate data.
