Location:Off NH Route 1B, at the US Coast Guard Station in New Castle.
Facilities:Historic site, interpretive exhibits.
Activities:Self-guided tours.
Special Features:Fort is located on a peninsula on the northeast corner of New Castle Island overlooking the Pisquatua River and the Atlantic Ocean. It was originally a British stronghold known as Fort William and Mary. In December 1774, colonists raided the fort, an important event in the chain of events leading to the Revolution. Site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
