Established: Authorized on November 10, 1978.
Location:In southwestern Pennsylvania, 12 miles from Uniontown and 10 miles from Morgantown, West Virginia.
Facilities:Picnic area, rest rooms (é), visitor center (é), museum/exhibit, self-guided tour/trail.
Activities:Hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing, guided and self-guided tours.
Special Features:This stone and brick home on the Monongahela River near Point Marion, Pennsylvania, belonged to Albert Gallatin, Secretary of the Treasury, 1801-1813, under Presidents Jefferson and Madison. Gallatin's accomplishments and contributions include reducing the national debt, purchasing the Louisiana Territory and funding the Lewis & Clark exploration.
