a method of blasting by means of a safety fuse and a detonator (blasting cap). It is used for consecutive initiation of explosive charges in breaking up foundations for the reconstruction of plant facilities, breaking up boulders, and so on.
Fuse firing uses a firing assembly, which can be ignited only by a smoldering fuse, a section of safety fuse, or an ignition cartridge (a single charge can be ignited with a match); it consists of a detonator (blasting cap) and a section of safety fuse, whose burning time allows the blasters to take shelter. The advantages of fuse firing include simplicity and the low cost of the firing gear. Its disadvantages are the impossibility of simultaneous detonation of a large number of charges and of using instruments to check the quality of preparation of the charge for blasting, and also the low productivity.
