Alessi, Galeazzo

 

Born 1500 or 1512, in Perugia; died Dec. 30, 1572, in Perugia. Italian architect of the late Renaissance.

Alessi studied in Rome under Michelangelo and worked mainly in Genoa. He created a type of palace with a terrace arrangement of the inner space built on a steep slope. His main works are the church Santa Maria Assunta di Cari-gnano in Genoa (1552), the Marino Palace in Milan (started in 1557), and the Parodi Palace in Genoa (1567).
