Demographic and clinical data were collected which included gender, age, address, type of poison, time from exposure to presentation, time since
gastric lavage and institution of care (antidote, and life support measures).

One day after presentation, the eagle was anesthetized with isoflurane in a protocol similar to that used for the kestrel, intubated, and positioned in sternal recumbency for
gastric lavage. The bird was secured to a tilted surgery table at a 45[degrees] angle with the head towards the floor.
This is an important finding as, according to recent guidelines, decontamination procedure including
gastric lavage and charcoal are effective if performed within one hour of poisoning incident.27 This is one of the reasons that only 53% of patient underwent
gastric lavage and only 52% received charcoal.

Gastric lavage has been routinely employed with this belief to evacuate the gastric contents and avoid feeding problems but like other procedures it has been associated with complications [8, 11, 12].
