The robot must move from one nodal point to another and this can be done if each
Gaussian function that defines attractive force has appropriate width along axis [O.sub.i][x.sub.i] (along line segment).
where c is the center of the
Gaussian function and [sigma] is the deviation.

Gaussian function shown by solid lines.
where r is the variance of the 2D
Gaussian function.
where m determines the maximum of the
Gaussian function, [[tau].sub.1] and [[tau].sub.2] indicate the width of the Gaussian profiles, and [l.sub.1] and [l.sub.2] denote the length of the diverging region from the feeding point to point A and the length of the converging region from point A to the end of the slotline, respectively.
(b) and (d)
Gaussian function and Bessel-modified functions for the topological charges m = 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 versus radial distance; (b) and (d) were generated using P = 1.3 [mm] and P = 0.7 [mm], respectively.
where [[mu].sub.j](N) is the layer 2 node output; [m.sub.j] is the mean of the asymmetric
Gaussian function in the jth term associated with the ith input variable; and [[sigma].sub.vj] and [[sigma].sub.rj] are the left-hand-side and right-hand-side standard deviations of the asymmetric
Gaussian function in the jth term associated with the ith input variable, respectively.
In Figure 1, Morl1 is the wave of the
Gaussian function, and Morl2 is the complex exponential wave function.
This simply means that we build a 2D matrix of normalized pre-calculated
Gaussian function values and use them as weights, and then do a weighted sum of all neighboring pixels in order to calculate each pixel's new (filtered) value.
