General Geographic Maps

 

maps showing the basic elements of a locality (including relief, hydrography, vegetation, soils, populated areas, transportation routes, and borders) in equal detail by various cartographic means. General geographical maps are subdivided by scale into large-scale, or topographic maps (1:200,000 and larger), medium-scale maps (1:300,000–1,000,000), and small-scale maps (less than 1:1,000,000).
