Geochemical Nodes

 

regions of intersection of two unlike geochemical systems—for example, the intersection of specific facies of cuprous sandstone sedimentary rock with superimposed endogenic processes along more recent tectonic dislocations. The superimposition of geochemical processes in geochemical nodes enhances the migration of chemical elements in unusual combinations and anomalous concentrations, resulting in the formation of complex deposits that contain groups of minerals. The term “geochemical nodes” was proposed by A. E. Fersman in 1931.
