Setting characteristics of dental cements are commonly analyzed by indentation tests via a Gilmore needle.7 The various factors that influence the setting time of dental cements are the mixing technique, powder/ liquid ratio and material composition.
The setting time of CPC-[Ca.sub.3]Si[O.sub.5] composites determined by the Gilmore needle method was 40 [+ or -] 10 min.
The setting time of each type of material was determined using the Gilmore needle method (15).
