Location:In southeastern Pope County in southern Illinois, along the Ohio River at Golconda.
Facilities:Camping area, picnic area, marina, boat ramps, trails.
Activities:Camping, boating, water-skiing, fishing, hiking.
Special Features:The full-service Golconda Marina serves as the gateway to the Smithland Pool, a 23,000-acre recreational area of fingered tributaries off the Ohio River. A large bluff above the marina features camping and picnic areas that overlook the river, as well as a hiking trail that goes up historic steps registered with the National Historical Society.
