Location:From Highway 101 or Highway 80, follow signs "to Golden Gate Bridge," take the Fell Street Exit, head west into park. From Highway 1, follow signs to 19th Ave., turn right on Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. into the park.
Facilities:Picnic areas, concessions, 11 lakes, waterfalls, boat rentals (pedal
boats, electric boats, row boats), bike paths, bridle paths, two
18-hole disc golf courses, historical guided walking tours, historic
monuments, museums, California Academy of Sciences (aquarium,
planetarium, natural sciences exhibits), conservatory, gardens
(including Shakespeare Garden and Japanese Tea Garden), carousel,
playground, athletic fields.
Activities:Boating, bicycling, horseback riding, golf, tennis, archery, baseball,
basketball, football, soccer, disc golf, swing dancing, lawn bowling.
Special Features:Park is home to the Asian Art Museum, the largest museum outside of
Asia devoted exclusively to Asian art. The collections represent the
greatest effort in the Western world to collect, display, and study the
fine arts of more than 40 Asian countries. Collection includes the
oldest-known dated Chinese Buddha image (AD 338). Other park
attractions include the Strybing Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
