Gor’kosolenoe Lake

 

(also Gor’koe Lake), a salt lake in Volgograd Oblast, RSFSR, lying between the Volga River and Lake El’ton. It has an area of 77 sq km. Gor’kosolenoe Lake is drainless and shallow, with marshy shores and silt-covered bottom. It resembles a swamp. The water contains hydrogen sulfide. There are deposits of Glauber salt on the shores.
