Location:Off the north coast of Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Special Features:Buried under the island's volcanic rock are 33,000 conch shells, revealing a history of human occcupancy dating back 1,000 years.
Habitats: 14-acre island of volcanic rock.
Access: Island refuge is closed due to fragile habitat.
Wild life: St. Croix ground lizard and colonial nesting birds

Green Cay National Wildlife Refuge. It contains most of the designated critical habitat for the ground lizard.
