Grofé, Ferde

Grofé, (Ferdinand Rudolph von) Ferde

(1892–1972) composer/arranger; born in New York City. An arranger for Paul Whiteman's "symphonic jazz" orchestra, Grofé orchestrated Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and composed works expressing American locales, notably the Grand Canyon Suite (1931).
