Gusinoozersk

 

(until 1953. the settlement of Shakhty). a city in Selenga Raion, Buriat Autonomous ASSR. On the northeastern shore of Gusinoe Lake, 6 km from the Zagustai railroad station (on the Ulan-Ude-Naushki line). In Gusinoozersk there is coal mining. There is also a building-materials combine, a clothing factory, and a dairy. A state regional electric power station is under construction (1971).
