HITECH

(1) See high tech.

(2) (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act) A part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) that pertains to healthcare information. It extends the privacy requirements enacted in HIPAA beyond the healthcare providers to the services and companies with which they do business. See HIPAA and healthcare IT.
