Haena State Park
Location:At the end of Kuhio Highway (Highway 56) in Haena.
Facilities:Beach, trail, scenic views.
Activities:Shore fishing, swimming and other beach-related activities, hiking.
Special Features:This scenic wildland park contains ancient sea caves formed during a
time when the sea was higher, probably 4,000 years ago. (According to
legend, the volcano goddess Pele dug the caves while searching for a
new home.) Park is the
trailhead for the 11-mile Kalalau Trail. Park also offers spectacular
views of the Na Pali coast.
