Heidecke Lake State Fish & Wildlife Area

Location:Exit 240 off I-55 (Lorenzo Road/Pine Bluff Road), then west to Jugtown Road; lake is 1 mile north on Jugtown Road.
Facilities:Boat launch facility, concession with rental boats and motors. Other facilities available at Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area, adjacent to Heidecke Lake.
Activities:Hunting, fishing (bank or boat fishing; size and catch limits). Only boats for fishing or waterfowl hunting are permitted on the lake. Boats must have gasoline-powered motors, and no water skiing, swimming, wading, sailboating, or personal watercraft are allowed at the lake.
Special Features:Lake is managed by the state specifically for hunting and fishing. The fish-stocking program there produces trophy-size bass. Both shotgun and archery hunting are offered at Heidecke Lake.
