Hidden Springs State Forest

Location:East central Illinois, 10 miles southeast of Shelbyville, near Clarksburg.
Facilities:Class C campsites, picnic areas, shelter, playground, fishing ponds, trails.
Activities:Camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, bird watching.
Special Features:Forest was named after the seven known springs on the property which were used for drinking water by the Indians and early settlers. Over the years these springs have been covered over by natural siltation and vegetation. The entire forest area was originally planned as a state lake but was designated instead as a state forest when construction of Shelbyville Reservoir began. It is managed under the concept of multiple use (timber/resource management and and compatible recreation).
