Location:Southern Illinois, in Alexander County, just east of IL 3, 7 miles north of Cairo.
Facilities:38 Class A campsites with electricity and showers, 40 Class B/E campsites with electricity only, 10 Class C campsites, 4 picnic areas, playground.
Activities:Camping, fishing, boating (10 HP limit), hunting.
Special Features:The natural features of the area are similar to those found in the Deep South, with bald cypress, tupelo gum, and swamp cottonwood trees surrounding the lake. Horseshoe Island, Horseshoe Lake, and all areas not designated for public hunting are used to maintain the Canada goose population, and up to 150,000 geese winter at the site each year.
