Hsining

 

a city in China, on the Tat’ung Ho. Capital of Tsinghai Province and Hsining Municipality. Population, approximately 500,000 (1969). A railroad branch line links the city with the Lunghai Railroad. Hsining has enterprises of the metallurgy, machine-building, and chemical industries. The city processes animal products. It has a steam power plant. The Tat’ung coal mines are northwest of Hsining.
