iCOMP

(Intel COmparative Microprocessor Performance) An earlier index of CPU performance from Intel. iCOMP Version 1.0 tested a mix of 16-bit and 32-bit integer, floating point, graphics and video operations. Versions 2.0 and 3.0 were geared for 32-bit processors and were not compatible with each other. Ratings ran from 22 to 3280; for example, iCOMP 1.0 reported 22 for a 16 MHz 386SX processor while iCOMP 3.0 yielded 3280 for a 1 GHz Pentium III.

NIIT, a global e-business solutions provider based in India, recently partnered with iCOMP Health Management, Atlanta, Ga., to create a new Web-based application that integrates Palm hand-held and centralized information sharing into RMIS applications--specifically the workers' compensation claims management process.
The company has computed its iCOMP (Intel comparative microprocessor performance) ratings of a variety of Intel CPU types for the '486 family ('486-SX 25MHz to '486-DX 100MHz) and the two Pentium OverDrive units (63MHz and 83MHz).
The existence of such schemes is tested with the dummy variable ICOMP; it was coded one if such schemes were mentioned in either the 10-K or annual reports and zero otherwise.
These measures are inadequate, say Google's rivals, which include: Microsoft and Nokia, teamed up with online travel services in the association FairSearch Europe; the Initiative for a Competitive Online Marketplace (ICOMP), a group of digital companies led by Microsoft; a coalition of European publishing industry operators; the Centre of the Picture Industry (CEPIC); and other stakeholders, including the European Consumers' Organisation (BEUC).
Lobbying group ICOMP lawyer David Wood said that the Commission must set a tight deadline failing which the commitments procedure should come to an end, the report added.
The ICOMP association, which is fighting for a competitive online research market, has called for "a revised offer from Google as soon as possible".
