Ibadan

 

a city in southwestern Nigeria; administrative center of the Western Region. Population, 745,800 (1970). The city is a railroad and highway junction. There is commerce in cacao beans. Ibadan is the site of a tobacco factory, a fruit-canning plant, and auto-repair and woodworking shops. Its manufactures also include plastic and rubber products. There are cottage industries. A university is located in Ibadan.
