In a group G the inverse of an element g is the unique element g -1 such that g · g -1= g -1· g = e, where · denotes the group operation and e is the identity element.

Additive iterative method (AIM) has automatically corrected integral nonlinearity and it is based on precisely designed inverse element. Non-subtractive dithering with averaging has enabled correction under level of 1 LSB of used 10-bit ADC.
