Irbil

 

(also Erbil), a city in northern Iraq. Population, 90,000 (1965). Irbil is a highway junction and railroad terminus of a line from Baghdad. The city trades in grain, sesame, tobacco, and cotton. Hides are dressed, and other crafts are practiced.
