Isachsen Plateau

 

a plateau located in the northwest portion of West Spitsbergen. Elevation, up to 1,280 m (Mt. Ringnes). Most of the plateau is covered by an ice sheet, which is the region of alimentation of several large glaciers, including the Monaco (32.5 km long) and the Krone (30 km long). The plateau was named after the Norwegian polar explorer G. Isachsen (1868–1939).
