Jawf, Al-

 

a settlement and oasis in southeastern Libya, part of the Kufra oasis group in the Libyan Desert. Population, approximately 4,000. It is a junction for caravan routes leading to the Mediterranean coast and the commercial transportation center of the Kufra oases. Grain and date palms are raised.


Jawf, Al-

 

a town and oasis in northern Saudi Arabia. Junction of caravan trails. In al-Jawf there are groves of date palms, gardens, and grain crops. Leatherworking and weaving are done there.
