Jhansi

a city in northern India, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, in the Chambal River valley. Population, 198,100 (1971). Jhansi is a commercial and distribution center and a highway, railroad, and airline junction. The city contains railroad workshops and handicraft industries. There is a memorial museum in the old fort in honor of Rani Lakshmi Bai, a heroine of the anti-English nationalist (Sepoy) uprising of 1857-59.

Jhansi, one of the 13 parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh going to polls on Monday is currently represented by sitting MP Uma Bharti who had won the seat by a margin of 1,90,467 votes in 2014.

Shiv Saran Kushwaha, contesting on a Congress ticket said that the fight is between Congress and the BJP and SP-BSP-RLD candidate does not any chance of winning in Jhansi.
